Starfield's 'version 2.0' arrives: terran armada dlc & major updates land april 7
Bethesda is betting big on a second act for Starfield. The studio today unveiled a substantial update package, headlined by the paid Terran Armada DLC and a host of free additions arriving April 7th, the same day the game launches on PlayStation 5. The moves signal a renewed commitment to expanding the sprawling space RPG.

Terran armada dlc brings new quests, locations, and a price tag
The $10 Terran Armada DLC offers a new story questline, characters, locations, and enemies. Owners of the Premium Edition receive it for free. This isn't just window dressing; Bethesda is investing in substantial content to keep players engaged long after the initial launch.
But the bigger news lies in the free updates bundled with Terran Armada, collectively dubbed “Free Lanes.” The most significant change? A revamped spaceflight system allowing travel between planets within the same star system. This addresses a common criticism of the initial release and opens up possibilities for more dynamic exploration.
Free Lanes also introduces an expanded number of points of interest (POIs), dungeons, and encounters. Players can also acquire X-Tech, a new resource used to upgrade weapons and ship modules. Adding to the roster are the Moon Jumper land vehicle, a Milliewhale pet, and a new crew member. And for those looking to jump back in, New Game+ now allows a limited number of items to be carried over.
The expansion complements the existing bounty hunter pack with five new Trackers Alliance adventures available now. IGN has already explored the changes. The question now is whether these updates are enough to fully revitalize Starfield's player base. The game’s price has also been reduced to $49.99 across all platforms, a welcome move for potential buyers.
This isn't just about adding content; it's about addressing player feedback and building on the foundation laid by the initial release. Todd Howard, Bethesda’s head, recently discussed the game’s future in an interview, hinting at continued support—and a carefully guarded mention of The Elder Scrolls VI. For now, Bethesda is focused on solidifying Starfield's place in the current gaming landscape.
