Amazon is raising the stakes
for its premium streaming tier, Prime Video Ultra, by hiking the monthly fee from $2.99 to $4.99, effective April 10, 2026. This bold move comes with exclusive perks for Ultra subscribers, including 4K/UHD streaming capabilities, a boost to five concurrent streams (up from three), and up to 100 video downloads (a 300% increase from the standard 25).Amazon tweaks standard prime video too
In a bid to keep its base plan competitive, the company is also increasing the number of standard definition downloads from 25 to 50 per month, and allowing four concurrent streams instead of three.
This pricing shift may prompt some users to reassess their streaming habits. Currently, Prime Video offers a vast library of content, including the popular series Young Sherlock, which has garnered a 7/10 rating from this publication. The platform is also underway with a live-action God of War adaptation, the first look of which has sparked controversy.
