Bungie has announced a major update for its new extraction shooter, Marathon, with the arrival of a challenging raid-like mode called Cryo Archive.

This new multiplayer mode will be available only on weekends, starting March 20, and promises an intense experience that will test even the most skilled players. To access Cryo Archive, players must meet specific requirements, including reaching season level 25, unlocking all factions, and having a loadout value of $5,000 credits or higher.

The mode will feature a labyrinthine layout with tight corridors giving way to massive open spaces, pitting enemy crews against each other to unseal frozen vaults. These vaults will contain the highest-level gear in the game, including unique gold-tier weapons, but they'll be heavily guarded by unforgiving UESC bots.

Players will need to work together to defeat the bots, solve complex puzzles, and complete layered objectives. The exfiltration sites in Cryo Archive will function differently than those in other maps, adding an extra layer of strategy to the gameplay.

Bungie has also teased additional twists, such as Cryo Archive-specific contracts offered by the CyberAcme faction. Completing these contracts can reward high-tier gear, vault keys, and unique Codex entries.
