German astronaut rolls d20 in space, paving the way for cosmic d&d

Astronaut Rabea Rogge has taken tabletop gaming to new heights, literally, after successfully rolling a 20-sided die in zero gravity during a SpaceX mission.

Rogge, the first German woman in space, joined the Fram2 mission in 2025. While conducting research about Earth's North and South poles, she experimented with playing Dungeons & Dragons in microgravity.

In an Instagram reel, Rogge explained how she found the best way to roll the die was to throw it and then catch it, looking at the number as it landed in her hand.
